Ollie and Georgina Redhill
Featuring Full Front Garden Landscaping, Brickwork, Paving, Steps & Boundary Wall Reconstruction
Project Overview
The Ollie and Georgina Redhill project was a complete front garden transformation carried out by Gardens Design and Build Ltd, replacing a tired, overgrown frontage with a smart, modern hard-landscaping design.
The project combined new brickwork, feature steps and quality paving to create a welcoming, low-maintenance entrance that complements the character of this period property.
Client Brief
The client wanted to replace their old, crumbling boundary wall and worn front garden with a clean, contemporary design that still respected the traditional look of the house. They were looking for improved kerb appeal, a durable and low-maintenance surface, safe and well-proportioned steps up to the front door, and a design that would stand the test of time while requiring minimal upkeep.
Our Solution
We began by clearing the existing overgrown planting, old wall, and railings to prepare a blank canvas. New brick boundary and retaining walls were built to define the space and raise the garden level, finished with matching brick pillars and natural stone coping for a refined, traditional finish. A new paved pathway and steps were installed, providing safe and attractive access from the pavement to the front door, while a gravel bed was added to one side of the path to soften the hard landscaping and keep planting low-maintenance. Every element was carefully matched to the brickwork and materials of the existing property to ensure a cohesive, high-quality result.
Key Features
- New brick boundary and retaining walls with matching pillars for a strong, traditional street presence
- Natural stone coping to pillars and walls for a refined, finished look
- Feature paved steps providing safe and attractive access to the front entrance
- High-quality paving laid to create a durable, low-maintenance pathway
- Gravel border for easy-care planting and added texture
- Design in keeping with the character of the period property
- Significantly improved kerb appeal and overall street presentation
Challenges Overcome
- Working on a period property required careful matching of brick tones and detailing to ensure the new walls and pillars blended seamlessly with the existing building. The change in ground level across the front garden also called for precise planning of the retaining walls and step positions to achieve a safe, well-proportioned result. Working within a busy residential street meant material access and site logistics had to be carefully managed throughout the build.
The Ollie and Georgina Redhill Result
The completed front garden gives Ollie and Georgina a smart, welcoming entrance that dramatically improves the kerb appeal of their home. The combination of new brickwork, feature steps, and quality paving creates a low-maintenance space that’s both practical and in keeping with the character of the property, adding lasting value to the home.
